All these activities are meant to develop the total personality of the child. It has alwaysbeen noticed that the children who do not participate in any activity turn out to be themost undesirable elements in the school. They are shy, timid, unsociable, quarrelsomeand indisciplined. So parents and teachers should encourage and guide their children toparticipate in it wholeheartedly. It is compulsory that every child should participate atleast in one event each from Literary, Cultural and Sports and Games during the year.It is important that after being in the classroom for five to six hours a day the childshould be given an opportunity to relax his/her mind and exercise his/her body at leastfor an hour. Therefore, no exemption is given to anyone from participating in the cocurricular activities, except on medical grounds.SCHOOL TEAMSExceptionally talented students are selected to be members of the school teams andare given special coaching during the year. Once a student is selected and given practicefor any one of the school teams, it is compulsory that he/she participates in all thecompetitions for which the school selects him/her, as it will not be possible to select anew player to replace him/her at the last minute.Students who represent the school in any of the inter-school competitions at the District/State level will be given incentives in the form of marks during the next series of unittests. It will be computed as per the directive of the Principal. These marks will beadded to the total marks obtained by the student and will be considered for their gradingin the class.PICNICS AND EXCURSIONSStudents are taken out for class picnics to near-by places every year. It is compulsory forall students of the class to participate in the same. Students of higher classes are takenout on educational tours with the permission of parents. For all the class picnics andexcursions, the students are required to wear their school uniform.38
