Attendance :Regular daily attendance is important for a student’s success. While it is true thatsome students may be able to pass tests and even get good grades in spite ofabsence, tests constitute only one measure of what is learned at school. This isespecially true of VIKAS, as the success of our methodology depends on what actuallyhappens at school, rather than what the student reads or writes at home. Only theschool has the authority to determine whether an absence should be excused ornot. Certain procedures are in place to help you :1.Absence, if unavoidable, should be with the concurrence of the school.2.Students should respect rules of absence and attendance.Pre-arranged Absence :When a parent/ guardian knows in advance that their ward will be absent on aspecified date or during a specified time, he/ she must send in a written request tothe concerned class teacher at least two days in advance. Students are encouragedto complete their assignments before their absence.Reported Absence:Absence due to participation in competitions etc. should be pre- planned and withthe concurrence of the school. The School Diary can be used to communicate matters regarding leave and absence. All absence (except reported absence) excused or otherwise, shall accumulate andshall be entered into the report card as such.Unauthorised absence crossing 6 days per term shall be viewed seriously.Holidaying :Parents / Guardians are advised against taking students on vacation or holiday duringschool days. However, under very compelling circumstances, if a student has toleave on a holiday, permission has to be obtained from the Principal/Vice Principal/Headmistress atleast 10 days before the actual departure.ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE OF ABSENCE1. Pupils must be punctual at the beginning of the day, for subject classes and activityperiods.2. Attendance at the morning assembly is compulsory.3. Three late arrivals will be counted as one absence.4. No leave of absence will be granted except on previous written application fromthe parent/guardian and that too only for serious reasons, which should bementioned.32
